What is IVR?
IVR is a term used in telephony and basically refers to an automated system that answers incoming calls and guides the caller through a menu of options. You can consider the IVR to be an automated operator that never pauses and is available around the clock.
The great thing about IVR is that it can efficiently route and manage calls without the need for human staff to answer and transfer calls. For example, if a customer calls and wants to speak to the sales department, IVR can automatically transfer the call to the sales department.
In Virtual-Call's Cloud PBX, the IVR refers to the Auto Attendant. The Auto Attendant is a type of telephony software that automatically answers and transfers incoming calls based on the caller's keystrokes.
Imagine calling a business and a recorded voice gives you options like “Press 1 for sales, press 2 for customer service...” and so on. That's the Auto Attendant or IVR at work!
